16-year-old boy charged after 18-year-old was stabbed

A 16-year-old boy has been charged with assault and possession of an offensive weapon following a stabbing.

Police were called to the High Street in Brierley Hill, Dudley, at around 6.30pm GMT on Thursday after an 18-year-old man was found with stab wounds.

An 18-year-old woman, who was also arrested in connection with the stabbing, has been released on conditional bail while police inquiries continue.

The boy was remanded in custody to appear at Wolverhampton Magistrates Court on Saturday.

West Midlands Police said the stabbing victim was being treated in hospital for injuries which were not believed to be life-threatening.

Police added they had increased patrols in the area but were not looking for anyone in connection with the stabbing.
