Albany man convicted in 1995 singing stabbing

Albany, NY – An Albany man has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for fatally stabbing Michael Jones in 1995. The incident occurred while both men were inmates at Sing Sing Correctional Facility in Ossining.

Westchester County District Attorney Rocah credited diligent investigators and prosecutors for the success. She praised efforts to hold accountable those responsible for Jones’ death on Christmas Eve nearly 30 years ago.

  • Fredericksburg man arrested for drunk driving with child in vehicle

    Stafford, VA – A Fredericksburg man, Michael Hughes, was arrested Tuesday following a drunk driving incident with a child in the vehicle.

    Deputy KF Bierfeldt responded to a drunk driving complaint on Chatham Heights Road at 6:00 p.m. The driver was found in the parking lot of Sparks Early Learning Academy.

    The officer identified the driver as 34-year-old Hughes, who had slurred speech and smelled of alcohol. There was also a small child in the vehicle.

    Hughes was subjected to a field sobriety test and subsequently arrested. He is charged with driving under the influence (DUI) with elevated blood alcohol content and child endangerment and is being held at the Rappahannock Regional Jail on $3,000 bail.

  • Fire investigation leads to charges in Monroe Township

    Monroe Township, NJ – Monroe Township Police responded to a fire at an apartment building on South Main Street on Thursday. The incident occurred around 5:17 a.m.

    Firefighters managed to contain the fire and the fire was deemed suspicious by the fire marshal. The MTPD Detective Bureau began an investigation with the assistance of firefighters. A suspect was identified and arrested around 8:15 a.m.

    Tobin N. Watson was charged with Arson under Statute 2C:17-1b(2). Watson was also found to have participated in a theft at a nearby business and was subsequently charged with a theft under Statute 2C:20-3a. Watson is being held in the Salem County Jail on outstanding warrants.
