Tragic End: Bodies of two missing students recovered from Samaleswari Ghat

Bhubaneswar: The bodies of two students, who reportedly went missing after being swept away by the strong currents of the Mahanadi river near Dhobapada Ghat under Khetrajpur police station limits in Sambalpur on Friday, were found at Samaleswari Ghat on Saturday recovered.

The deceased are Kanisk Kanit and Himanshu Singh, students of IX. Class.

According to eyewitnesses, the incident occurred around 4 pm when the two students, both residents of Tiwari Gali and students of IX. Great, bathed in the river.

The locals initially mistook them for fishermen, but soon alerted the police, who immediately informed the fire department personnel. A six-member fire brigade team rushed to the spot and initiated a rescue operation.

Despite searching late into the night, the fire department was unable to locate the bodies. This morning, the Odisha Disaster Rapid Action Force (ODRAF) team arrived from Jharsuguda along with fire service personnel and resumed the search operation for the two students. Two bodies were recovered from Samaleswari Ghat.
