Officials: The shooting may be accidental

An 18-year-old died after he was reportedly shot near the Subway restaurant in Millen on Wednesday in what officials said appeared to be an accidental shooting. Millen police and the Jenkins County Sheriff’s Office responded to calls reporting the incident, said Chief Dwayne Herrington of the Millen Police Department. Upon further investigation, Herrington said it was discovered that Brandon McKenzie, of Buttermilk Road, Sylvania, was taken from the scene to Jenkins County Hospital by a friend. McKenzie was pronounced dead in the emergency room, Herrington said.
