Confessions from Wisconsin, La Crosse city government, and a look at the 2025 and 2028 elections with UWL political scientist Chergosky

There’s nothing like breaking down the 2025 and 2028 elections on La Crosse Talk. PM with UW-L political science professor Dr. Anthony Chergosky, 24 days before the end of the November election cycle.

We also reviewed the City Council’s decision not to vote on hiring a city manager with WIZM’s Brad Williams. We’ve also highlighted some “Wisconsin Confessions” on Reddit, like “I don’t like brats” and “Culver’s cheese curds are no good.”

La Crosse Talk PM airs weekdays at 5:06 p.m. Listen on the WIZM app, online here or on 92.3 FM / 1410 AM / 106.7 FM (north of Onalaska). Find all the podcasts here or subscribe to La Crosse Talk PM wherever you get your podcasts.

Regarding election coverage, we brought up the April 2025 election for several reasons. First, Shaundel Washington-Spivey announced he was running for mayor of La Crosse, and the City Council postponed a vote on hiring a city manager until after May. The 2025 election also featured candidates for the Wisconsin Supreme Court with political leanings in the state, as well as for state superintendent of schools.

And to make it ridiculous, we discussed the impact of each party depending on who wins the November election and who would be on the list in 2028 based on the result.

As for the city manager, we discussed the reasons why the council didn’t vote and how La Crosse Mayor Mitch Reynolds – who supports the office – argued on WIZM earlier this week that the council should vote or else it’s a slip-up.

And finally, we found some of the best/worst Wisconsin Confessions on Reddit.
