Cambridge man arrested on assault and drug charges

CAMBRIDGE, Md. – Cambridge police say a man is behind bars after a reported assault last week.

Just before 1 a.m. on Oct. 4, officers were called to the 400 block of Light Street for a reported physical disturbance. Officers met with the people involved, including the victim, who reported that they were attacked by 20-year-old Isiah Fields. Before the victim reported being attacked by Fields, Fields was reportedly told to separate from the victim because he had attempted to argue.

Fields then allegedly attempted to leave the scene on foot. Officers approached him and attempted to arrest him when he reportedly resisted and attempted to flee again. Officers deployed a department-issued Taser, but Fields continued to resist and eventually kicked an officer.

Other officers at the scene were led to the residence where the incident occurred. They found a large amount of controlled dangerous substances. It was also discovered that Fields had a gun in the apartment.

A search and seizure warrant resulted in the discovery of a box of empty new wax folds used to package heroin/fentanyl, several laptops and cell phones, a digital scale, a container of CDS packaging materials including die-cut wax folds, rubber bands and eight bundles consisting of stamped ones Wax folds containing suspected heroin, a medical bottle and bag containing approximately 30 grams of suspected heroin, a stamp set and stamp ink, a handgun with a loaded magazine, a rifle with a loaded 30-round magazine and cannabis.

Fields was subsequently charged with two counts of second-degree assault: resisting arrest, failure to obey a lawful order, and hindering and obstructing. He was held without bail and additional charges are pending.
