Jannik Sinner fired his physiotherapist Giacomo Naldi and his athletic trainer Umberto Ferrara at the end of August.

Jannik Sinner has recently been struggling with a doping controversy, which also overshadowed his victory at the US Open. Ahead of the US Open, it was revealed that he had tested positive for an anabolic drug twice in March but had escaped a ban. An independent court accepted his defense that the test results had been affected by unintentional contamination.

At the end of August, Sinner fired his physiotherapist Giacomo Naldi and his sports trainer Umberto Ferrara, and the two were held responsible for the unlawful infection.

WADA then lodged an appeal with the Court of Arbitration for Sport in the last week of September, stating that it was “seeking a ban of between one and two years”.

In a press release, the CAS said: “At this stage it is not possible to set a time frame for the issuance of the decision. The CAS Panel’s decision is final and binding, except for the parties’ right to appeal to the Swiss Federal Court within 30 days on limited grounds.

Naldi recently spoke out about the incident and revealed that he would speak out “sooner or later.”

At the presentation of the Open Food Factory project, he said: “I’m fine. I’m as sorry as everyone else. I can’t say anything else, I just hope that sooner or later I can also tell what happened, to give a general picture, as anyone who has read the sentence knows.”

“He wrote to me saying he was nice, as were all the staff. By the way, I have received and read things that were not nice, but that is part of the game,” he added.

Sinner has hired Ulises Badio as his new physiotherapist and Marco Panichi as his new coach, and they have been with him for several weeks now. He hopes that the new CAS ruling will be in his favor.
