Biddeford area evacuated due to reports of “suspicious device.”

BIDDEFORD, (WGME) – Police said they responded to reports of a “suspicious device” on a portion of Jefferson Street in Biddeford on Friday.

Several buildings in the area were evacuated out of “an abundance of caution,” police said.

The Biddeford Police Department was assisted in the investigation by the Maine State Fire Marshal and the Maine State Police Explosives Unit.

Police recommend avoiding the area until further notice.

The investigation is ongoing.
