Barron told CBS12 News that Dr. Shelby Loos will be conducting an autopsy with the Coastal Stewards to determine the cause of death.

While the death of this marine animal is tragic, Barron said the minke whale is a very difficult species for marine researchers to study and very little is known about it. By studying the whale’s remains, researchers can learn a lot about the species.
