Rochester Hills doctor faces 17 additional sexual assault charges: sheriff

ROCHESTER HILLS, MI – An incarcerated Rochester Hills doctor faces 17 additional charges in connection with a series of sexual assaults on a 5-year-old girl, according to the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office.

Oumair Aejaz, 40, was charged with two counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct, three counts of second-degree sexual conduct, three counts of aggravated child sexual abuse, three counts of taking images of an unclothed person and three counts of sexual abuse charged with six counts of using a computer to commit a crime.

His next court date is scheduled for October 23rd. If convicted, he could face life in prison.

Sheriff’s officials said Aejaz filmed himself molesting the 5-year-old girl, now 6, between 2023 and 2024. Officials did not release any further details about this incident.

According to officials, Aejaz previously faced 10 felony counts related to recording naked women and children for at least six years in various settings, including hospitals, homes and a Goldfish swimming school in Rochester.

Aejaz, who specialized in internal medicine, used hidden cameras to film children as young as two and women of various ages in hospital rooms, locker rooms, closets, bathrooms and bedrooms, authorities said.

Aejaz had privileges at Ascension Genesys Hospital in Grand Blanc Township and Henry Ford Macomb in Clinton Township but was not on staff, officials said.

According to officials, investigators believe Aejaz recorded his sexual encounters with numerous sleeping or unconscious women, as well as relatives in the bathroom or while changing.

Oakland County Sheriff Michael Bouchard warned in August that the charges were just “the tip of the iceberg” and that there could be hundreds more victims, perhaps even more victims than disgraced Michigan State University sports doctor Larry Nassar , was mistreated.

“As I said from the beginning, this would take a lot of work and…
“It’s going to take a lot of time,” Oakland County Sheriff Michael Bouchard said. “Nevertheless, we will leave no stone unturned to achieve justice for every victim.” Through this long and painstaking process, we have been able to uncover this very large list of additional crimes that have not been charged, and we continue to seek the public’s help in identifying additional potential ones Identify victims.”

Officials said investigators received a tip about Aejaz on August 7 and quickly began building a case against him.

According to officials, officers then arrested Aejaz at his home the next day while officers executed a search warrant.

During the search, investigators confiscated six computers, four cell phones and 15 external hard drives, which contained 13,000 videos alone, according to officials.

Investigators expect the forensic examination of all seized materials to take six months.

Aejaz was initially charged with ten counts, including:

  • One count of sexually abusive activity toward children.
  • In one case, a computer was used to create and/or reproduce child sexually abusive material.
  • In two cases, children under 18 were captured/recorded naked.
  • In two cases, two women over the age of 18 were filmed naked.
  • Four counts of using a computer to commit a felony.

He was booked into the Oakland County Jail on $2 million bond.

Aejaz, who came to the United States around 2011, is an Indian citizen who worked in the United States on a visa, according to the sheriff’s office.

According to the sheriff’s office, Aejaz completed his residency at Detroit Sinai Grace Hospital and then moved to Dawson, Alabama, then returned to Oakland County in 2018 to continue his practice in internal medicine.

Bouchard encouraged anyone who believes they may be a victim of Aejaz to contact sheriff’s detectives at [email protected].
