One person died in an accident on Thursday evening in Cape Vincent | Jefferson County News

The vehicle then caught fire, trapping the driver and the only occupant inside.

People attempted to remove the occupant but were unsuccessful and the driver was pronounced dead after the Cape Vincent Fire Department extinguished the fire.

State Police were assisted at the scene by Cape Vincent Fire Department, Cape Vincent Ambulance, Jefferson County Medical Examiner’s Office and Jefferson County Fire and Emergency Management Office.

Police did not release the driver’s name pending notification of next of kin as the investigation is ongoing.
