Crash in UP leaves 1 dead, prosecutor considers charges

RUDYARD TOWNSHIP, MI – One person was killed and three others were injured in a crash Thursday afternoon after the driver of a Subaru ran a stop sign. According to WLUC-6, the accident occurred around 1:30 p.m. when the Subaru swerved in front of a UPS truck and was struck.

The driver of the UPS truck appeared to be uninjured in the crash and the driver of the Subaru suffered minor injuries. Two passengers in the Subaru suffered serious injuries and were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Emergency responders attempted to resuscitate a third passenger in the Subaru, but she was later pronounced dead at a local hospital. The victim’s name has not been released pending notification of family and the accident remains under investigation.

The driver of the Subaru was taken into custody and the case was forwarded to the Chippewa County Prosecutor’s Office for review.
