Reminder from Hudson County election officials: October 15 voter registration deadline

Do you know “the most important election of your life”?

No, not 2020 or 2016 or 2012 or 2008 or… It’s this one. Until the next one, of course.

Well, the deadline to register for the November 5, 2024 election – which includes the presidential, congressional races and a variety of state and local contests – is October 15th.

Not everyone can vote. You must be:

  • a citizen of the United States
  • You must be at least 17 years old, but you are not allowed to vote until you turn 18
  • Be a resident of the county 30 days before the election
  • a person who is not serving any term of imprisonment pursuant to a conviction for an offense under the laws of this or any other State or of the United States.

People can register to vote online by visiting the state’s voter information portal at ww.vote.nj.gov.

To register as a new voter, file a name change, update the voter’s address, join a party, or submit a signature update, select “Register to Vote” and follow the instructions in the registration application.

Hudson County residents may also register in person by visiting the office of the Hudson County Superintendent of Elections and Commissioner of Registration at Hudson County Plaza, 257 Cornelison Avenue, 4th Floor, Jersey City NJ 07302.

Regular office hours are Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m

Extended Evening Registration is scheduled for Friday evening, October 11th and Tuesday, October 15th. On these dates the office is open until 9 p.m

Another way to register in person is to visit your local council office.

A third option is to register by mail using a printable, prepaid registration form available in English and Spanish. Must be postmarked by October 15th.
