Armed career criminal faces 15-year prison sentence for firearm possession – Deltaplex News

Marcus Venson, a multiple convicted felon, was sentenced to 15 years in federal prison for possession of a firearm.

The announcement was made by Jonathan D. Ross, U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Arkansas, following the sentencing by Chief U.S. District Judge Kristine G. Baker on October 2, 2024.

Venson, 45, of Little Rock, pleaded guilty to the charge on August 24, 2023. In addition to his prison sentence, he received three years of supervised release.

Venson’s indictment dated November 2, 2022 included a charge of being a felon in possession of a firearm.

The case stems from an incident on March 18, 2018, when Little Rock police responded to a report of theft at a residence. Officers found Venson inside the apartment carrying a television. Although officers initially denied owning a firearm, they discovered a silver firearm in his pocket. He was taken into custody and a search uncovered a firearm, ammunition and phencyclidine (PCP).

The investigation was conducted by the Little Rock Police Department and prosecution was carried out by Assistant United States Attorneys Jordan Crews and John Ray White.
