Food delivery partner killed in tragic hit-and-run accident in Pune, driver arrested

Pune, October 11: In a devastating hit-and-run accident, a food delivery driver was killed after he was hit by a speeding luxury car in Pune. The accident occurred around 1:35 am in Koregaon Park area near Google office. The victim, identified as Rauf Akbar Shaikh, died on the spot. (Pune Mundhwa News)

According to the Pune city police, the suspected drunk driver of the luxury car initially collided with another two-wheeler, injuring three people. Soon after, the car rammed Shaikh’s motorcycle from behind, causing serious injuries. Shaikh was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival due to the effects of the accident. (Pune News)

Pune Additional Commissioner of Police Manoj Patil confirmed the tragic incident and a comprehensive investigation is underway. The accused driver, identified as 34-year-old Ayush Tayal, fled the scene after the accident but was later arrested by police from his residence in Hadapsar after a detailed analysis of the CCTV footage. A case has been registered at Mundhwa police station under several sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), including Sections 105, 281, 125(a), 132, 119, 177 and 184. Police are continuing to investigate the cause of the accident and collect further evidence
