‘Outer Banks’ Cast: See the stars of the hit Netflix show then and now

Outer Banks Fans have watched the cast change on and off screen since the series first aired.

The hit Netflix series, which premiered in 2020, introduced viewers to a coastal town in the Outer Banks of North Carolina that is divided between wealthy and working-class classes. Meanwhile, a group of teenagers accidentally find themselves at the center of a dangerous treasure hunt.

Outer Banks Ask John B (Chase Stokes) and Sarah (Madelyn Cline) is the beginning. As John B and Sarah fell in love and tried not to be divided by their social status, their off-screen colleagues also started dating.

Stokes and Cline made their romance public after the show’s premiere. Us weekly confirmed in November 2021 that the couple had broken up after more than a year of dating. Stokes and Cline have since discussed returning to film more seasons of the series following their split.

“Mads and I have been working together for 30 episodes now and we promised each other before we started dating that work would always come first,” Stokes said Weekly entertainment in February 2023. “And no matter what happens in our personal lives and how life sometimes takes us in different directions, we will always honor the work. That was 100 percent true this season.”

Cline echoed Stokes’ sentiment and was telling Cosmopolitan in the same month: “We always said that the job would remain untouched. Nothing else, personal or negative, will affect the job. And while it’s not always easy, it’s our job to leave the show better than we found it and to leave the season better than we found it. And I’m really grateful for that.”

In addition to John B and Sarah’s love story, the characters Kiara (Madison Bailey) and JJ (Rudy Pankow) turned their friendship into something more in Season 3. Pope (Jonathan Daviss), meanwhile found new arrival Cleo (Carlacia Grant), which fans can expect to see further development in season four.
