Perth chef and Italian restaurant owner Maurizio Di Ciano jailed for sexually harassing foreign employees

A well-known Perth chef and Italian restaurant owner has been sentenced to seven and a half years in prison for sexually abusing three of his female employees.

Maurizio Di Ciano, who once ran the WA Italian Club restaurant as well as the now-closed No Menu restaurant in Highgate, was arrested in 2021.

According to police, the workers were between 20 and 30 years old and were all foreign nationals who had recently been employed in their positions at the time of the crimes.

Di Ciano, now 51, was convicted of three counts of sexual penetration without consent at a trial earlier this year and pleaded guilty to indecent assault charges against two women.

His sentence was backdated to July 2024 and he is eligible for parole in 2030.
