5 Freeway closed in Boyle Heights after fatal shooting – NBC Los Angeles

At least one person was killed and another was injured after a shooting on a highway in Boyle Heights, California Highway Patrol officials said Thursday.

The incident occurred on the 5 Freeway near the Grande Vista exit around 4:17 p.m.

Both victims were in the same car, officials said.

Video from NewsChopper4 showed all lanes of the highway near the shooting site stopped while authorities investigated.

A Sigalert was issued in the area as traffic backed up to the Garfield Avenue and Bandini Boulevard exit.

Officials warned motorists in the area to expect delays of up to two hours.
