Date, time, fight card and how to watch

The Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship has experienced some momentum in recent years. But since Conor McGregor became co-owner of the promotion, things have moved to another level.

BKFC is taking a huge step from a sales perspective on Saturday. The martial arts promotion will not only take place for one event in Spain; BKFC Spain also marks the start of the brand’s partnership with DAZN.

The event takes place at the Marbella Arena in Spain and features three BKFC title fights and an interesting crossover fight.

Here’s how to watch and some details about the event.

  • Date: October 12th
  • Time: 1:00 p.m. ET
  • Watch: DAZN

Here’s a look at the entire map.

  • (c) Franco Tenaglia vs. Tony “Loco” Soto – Lightweight Championship
  • (c) Austin Trout vs. Rico Franco – Welterweight Championship
  • (c) David Mundell vs. Danny Christie – Middleweight Championship
  • Dan Chapman vs. Mike Jurik – Featherweight
  • Yunus Batan vs. Maxime Bellamy – 175 pounds
  • Felipe Da Silva Maia vs. James Lilley – Lightweight
  • Arbi Chakaev vs. Jose Daniel – Light Heavyweight
  • Hannah Rankin vs. Deborah Melhorn – Women’s Featherweight
  • Fran Suarez vs David Mora – Lightweight
  • Nico Gaffie vs. Radek Stadler – Featherweight
  • Ben “Bane” Davis vs. Oscar Stephen-Willis – Lightweight

In addition to the fights, McGregor is expected to be on hand, which could mean some juicy comments from the promotion’s co-owner, who has two fights left on his UFC contract.

Mundell is in the conversation for the greatest naked fighter in history. He had a whopping nine fights and won eight of them. Mundell has been involved in combat sports for over a decade, with stints on the old Dana White Lookin’ For a Fight series, Bellator and more.

However, he seems to have found his niche at BKFC. Mundell’s fight with Muhammad Lawal was scheduled for September but fell through and the former is back to defend his title against Christie in the event’s first title fight.

Trout is a former world boxing champion. One could argue that he is the most successful martial artist outside of bare knuckle boxing to regularly compete in the BKFC.

Even though he only has two wins in the BKFC, he is the reigning welterweight world champion and he has also found another step on his martial arts ladder with the promotion.

Trout defends his title against an experienced fighter in Franco. The latter has been participating in bare knuckle boxing since 2018 and his experience could pose a threat to Trout.

In the main event, champion Tenaglia was always an outstanding fighter. He has a 4-1 record in the sport and won the BKFC lightweight title in his last fight with the promotion, a majority decision over James Lilley in April. Tenaglia is back for his first defense against bare knuckle boxing sensation Tony Soto.

The 37-year-old Soto is 6-0 at BKFC and gets his first chance at a title with promotion.

In the preliminary rounds there is an exciting fight at the start. Mac Life journalist Oscar Willis and UFC Fight Pass, Misfits Boxing and DAZN broadcast journalist Ben Davis will compete in an amateur fight.

Davis is no stranger to martial arts.

The 24-year-old has competed in professional grappling, boxing and exhibition karate matches. Davis is ranked No. 1 in his martial arts efforts, but he dropped that publicity on media day for the event.

UFC President Dana White said he would watch the event because of this fight. This is the first time I can remember him publicly saying he would watch another martial arts promotion’s show besides boxing.

It will be a busy Saturday for combat sports as Artur Beterbiev and Dmitry Bivol fight for boxing’s undisputed light heavyweight title. Brandon Royval takes on Tatsuro Taira, with the latter having the title within his grasp if he wins in the UFC.

Stay tuned for more coverage throughout fight week.
