Tate McRae and her boyfriend Kid Laroi were almost “eaten by a whale” in a jet ski accident over the summer.

The “Greedy” singer spoke about the traumatic experience with host Jimmy Hill on Capital Radio on Wednesday night.

“[There was] “It was a pretty scary accident you had on a jet ski with your friend, The Kid Laroi, over the summer where you fell off and almost got eaten by a whale,” the show’s host said.

“Have you now banned him from driving any vehicle? “Is he a bit of a burden?” Hill, 35, asked jokingly.

“Well, now I do,” McRae, 21, said of the 21-year-old Australian rapper.

“I didn’t know what I was getting myself into. You know you trust your friend, but also jet skis are the worst. They turn around every two seconds.”

McRae explained that they were “ten feet” from a whale when they landed in the water.

“It was the big moment of our journey,” she said, seeming shaken by the experience. “I thought, ‘We almost ended up in the mouth of a whale!’

“It’s so scary to me, the sea is just a really scary thing to me, you’re just in there and it’s black and your toes are dangling down and it’s so strange.”

“I had this feeling when we fell into the water and you had a tingling sensation on the bottom of your feet and you thought, ‘We could die right now,'” the Canadian singer recalls.

McRae and Laroi apparently got through the traumatic experience together, as they were seen packing on the PDA during their “Think Later” tour stop at Madison Square Garden in New York City in August.

The two performed together for the first time, singing Laroi’s 2020 track “Without You.”

The “Exes” singer and Laroi were first romantically linked in January when they were spotted having dinner together in Los Angeles.

A month later, the couple confirmed their relationship by holding hands at a Super Bowl gathering and forcefully announced their romance to fans in April.

McRae previously dated ice hockey athlete Cole Sillinger from around 2021 to 2023, and the “Stay” crooner dated model Katarina Deme from 2020 to 2023.
