Colombia coach Luis Diaz accuses his opponents of spying ahead of the qualifying match – “We have photos” – Liverpool FC

Colombia has a World Cup qualifier against Bolivia on Thursday and Luis Diaz’s coach has accused his opponents of spying on their pre-match training sessions.

Liverpool’s No.7 is one of 19 experienced players on international duty this month, with the winger expected to feature prominently in Colombia’s two qualifiers.

The first game is against Bolivia (Thursday, 9pm in the UK), who Colombia coach Nestor Lorenzo has accused of spying on his team as they prepare for the game.

In his pre-match press conference, Lorenzo said: “It’s unfortunate that they send you to be a spy and that I don’t know where he came from or who he was, but we identified him.”

“We have photos and are reporting the case there,” he explained via Gol Caracol.

“Of course you want to train with the discretion you deserve and what happened was a breach of the team’s privacy.

“We have photographed the person of everything, we will see what happens in these hours.”

This of course means that the Colombian Football Federation has filed a formal complaint using the evidence they have obtained.

According to ESPN, Bolivian coach Oscar Villegas played down the allegation by pointing out that images from his team’s training sessions were also leaked, although they took place behind closed doors.

It doesn’t seem to be the only incident. El Espectador reported that Colombia was warned that Bolivia would try to over-inflate the balls and that a coach had problems entering the country.

The international break, right? It never gets boring.

Back on the pitch, it will be a challenge for Diaz and his teammates to adapt to playing in a stadium at over 4,000 meters altitude – which will put their fitness to the test.
