Dallas man who told of sexual assault of child on cell phone sentenced to prison

A 43-year-old man who recounted the sexual assault of a 14-year-old Dallas girl on his cell phone was sentenced Wednesday to 20 years in federal prison.

Vincent Jerome Thompson pleaded guilty to production of child pornography and aiding and abetting the 2021 attack in Dallas. Another man, Lukumond Adebola Olatunji, 46, pleaded guilty to kidnapping a minor and is due to be sentenced in December.

According to the federal prosecutor’s office, the two men lured the girl into a van on the way home from school on October 23, 2021 by offering her a ride. Instead, the men drove to an alley where Olatunji sexually assaulted the girl, who was wearing her school uniform, in the back seat of the car while Thompson recorded the attack on his cell phone and provided commentary.

In the video, the child can be heard saying, “I don’t want to do this anymore” and “Can we go?”

The couple then took the child to a motel in Central Oak Cliff, where the men took turns sexually abusing her while the other held her down, court documents show. When the men left the room to get more condoms, the girl was able to run away with her backpack and shoes.

The girl found a woman who drove her to a nearby gas station, where she called police, according to court documents. When officers arrived, they found the two men as well as condom wrappers and drug paraphernalia in the motel room.

“No child deserves the humiliation this child suffered,” U.S. Attorney Leigha Simonton said in a statement. “The insensitivity of the defendant’s comments on the video he shot, despite the victim asking the perpetrators to release them, shocks the conscience.”

After serving her sentence, Thompson will continue to be on lifelong supervised release and will be required to register as a sex offender.
