Officials confirm a sighting of a man wanted in the shooting death of the Memphis police chief

MEMPHIS, Texas (KFDA) – The man who went on the run after shooting the Memphis police chief was seen in western Donley County as recently as Sunday.

Donley County Sheriff Butch Blackburn said there were reports that Seth Altman was in the county near the Memphis city limits for at least two days.

He said state law enforcement sent many resources to search for Altman but were unsuccessful in finding him.

Altman is accused of shooting Memphis Police Chief Rex Plant on Oct. 3 while officers were serving a burglary warrant.

Chief Rex Plant has since been released from the hospital.

Altman has since been added to the list of 10 most wanted people in Texas.

A $10,000 reward was part of an announcement by Gov. Greg Abbott, and the FBI has offered an additional $5,000 reward for any information leading to Altman’s arrest.

Altman is charged with attempted murder of a peace officer.

Altman is considered armed and dangerous. If you are seen, do not approach him. Call 911 instead.
