Manchester man arrested for threatening to use air rifle

MANCHESTER – A Manchester police officer was approached around 9:30 p.m. on Oct. 7 by a woman who reported that a man had just threatened her and her boyfriend with a gun.

The couple was sitting in their car parked at 284 Spruce Street when a man they knew began yelling at them.

The confrontation escalated when the woman’s boyfriend got out of the vehicle and began arguing with the man.

During the argument, the man, later identified as 20-year-old Louis Sousa of Manchester, produced a gun and threatened violence.

The boyfriend took cover behind the car while the woman ran to ask a nearby officer for help.

Police quickly located Sousa, arrested him after establishing probable cause and charged him with criminal threats with a deadly weapon.

Upon further investigation, it was discovered that the weapon used by Sousa was an air pistol.

Sousa was held in preventive detention pending the hearing.
