Prepare for a spooky time at the Stratford Haunted Mansion

Are you ready to be afraid?

The fourth annual Escape-It Stratford Haunted House begins October 17th.

“We closed our escape rooms for two weeks,” said owner Caylie Butcher. “Every year we try to make it longer by adding more.”

The haunted house will be open daily until Halloween. Don’t be afraid, because there are different levels of fear for every age.

“We offer a less scary option for younger children or those who don’t like joining in when things are particularly scary. So there are no actors, just animatronics,” Butcher said. “The middle level features actors but no jump scares, and the scariest level gives the actors free reign to scare you as much as possible.”

Monday to Wednesday from 7pm to 10pm are the least scary nights; Thursdays from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. offer the medium fright experience, while weekends from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. offer the scariest experience. The full-blown spooky experience is not for the faint of heart, as Event Butcher avoids such nights.

“Last year people were telling me how good the actors were,” Butcher said. “We have people who are really scared; someone actually fell out of the exit he was trying to run so fast to escape.”

The haunted house experience only lasts five to ten minutes, depending on how brave you are. The annual event will also include a raffle, drinks for purchase and something sweet for everyone at the end.

The haunted house has brought back business and is getting people talking.

“I’ve noticed a lot of people come back around February to do escape rooms and they’ll mention the haunted house,” Butcher said. “We leave a lasting impression on people and the feedback continues to be positive.”
