Trisha Yearwood is supporting husband Garth Brooks amid sexual assault allegations and a legal battle with a makeup artist

Trigger Warning: This article discusses rape and sexual assault.

Country singer Trisha Yearwood appeared to signal her support for husband Garth Brooks on Tuesday, October 8, by posting a simple message on Instagram. In her first post since the sexual assault allegations against him, Yearwood wrote, “Love each other.”

The text was accompanied by a picture of the pair dueting on stage in Las Vegas, where he has had a residency since May last year. Yearwood frequently accompanied Brooks during his sold-out Garth Brooks/Plus One residency at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, which is scheduled to run through March 2025.

A makeup artist and hairstylist who worked for Brooks for 15 years filed a lawsuit against the singer on Thursday, October 3, claiming he raped her in a Los Angeles hotel room during a business trip in 2019. This is according to court documents obtained by various entertainment news outlets. The plaintiff claims that the singer also forced her to speak to him in sexually explicit language and deliberately exposed himself in front of her on multiple occasions. The woman also claims in her filing that he expressed a desire to have a “threesome” with her and Yearwood.

Brooks, for his part, has denied the allegations. He revealed that he had filed a complaint against his accuser long before she did, claiming that her accusations against him were just part of her grand blackmail plan. In a Sept. 13 filing in Mississippi, Brooks explained that he was being blackmailed by his former employee into signing checks worth millions of dollars. If he did not comply, the woman would falsely accuse him of assault, as she is well versed in the impact of such cases on public figures.

In a statement following its revelation, Ms. Brooks’ lawyers called Brooks’ lawsuit a “pre-emptive complaint” and a “blatant attempt to silence and harass their client.”

The latest update on the legal showdown between both parties is as follows: Brooks has filed a countersuit against his accuser, revealing her true identity. This action was condemned by Roe’s lawyers as they announced their plan to impose immediate and severe legal sanctions against him.

Brooks indicated earlier this week that people had told him the case could take two years to resolve, but he’s ready for the fight.
