“James Carville is scared to death of Election Day.”

James Carville told the MSNBC host Ali Melber that he was “scared to death” of the upcoming presidential election day and urged Democrats to be “sharp” and “aggressive” in the final weeks of the campaign.

The Democratic Strategist appeared on The Beat with Ali Melber on Wednesday evening to discuss the final weeks of the race, but warned that he was “very concerned” about the road ahead.

Asked how he felt, Carville said: “The only thing I feel is that the election is on November 5th. “I’m scared to death. And I’ll take my time to-“

“You’re not in a thoughtful mood?” asked the host.

“I’m not in a particularly thoughtful mood at the moment. “I’m very, very worried,” the guest replied.

Melber pressed, “What does Harris have to do with the remaining month?”

Carville denied there was a month left in the race, replying: “She doesn’t have a month left. We have 26 days. Today is over. They will lose four to the hurricane. Just subtract that. We’ll be left empty – you won’t get much out of it in the next four days. And everything kind of shuts down on the Saturday before the election, so you probably have less than 20 days to really get a message out.”

He went on to explain what the Democrats need to do to be successful in the home stretch: “They have to be sharp. You have to be aggressive. You need to stop answering questions and start asking questions. You do all this and sit down with 60 Minutes and sit down with Colbert and sit down – no matter what happens, when I come on your show, you’re going to ask me the questions. If I have a press conference, I can ask the questions.”

“You want her to give more press conferences?” asked the host.

Carville responded by calling the vice president Kamala Harris to challenge the Trump campaign over its claims that the former president Donald Trump “Obamacare saved.”

He continued: “But we’ll just let it go. And I think she and the entire campaign need to be much more aggressive and less passive than they are.”
