The search continues for the suspect after he stabbed the Sanford Family Dollar

SANFORD (WGME) – Police are searching for a man after a stabbing outside a Family Dollar in Sanford.

According to police, a 59-year-old Sanford man was stabbed outside the Family Dollar at Midtown Mall on Sunday around 10 p.m.

When police arrived, they found the man on his knees while bystanders actively controlled the bleeding.

Police believe the stabbing was the result of an ongoing fight between the two men.

The victim was taken to Maine Medical Center in Portland for treatment of stab wounds to his back and left side.

According to police, the suspect had long hair and was last seen wearing blue jeans, a backwards cap and a hoodie. The suspect may also have an eye injury.
