High Speed DUI Accident on Daniels Street

A driver is charged with driving under the influence after a rollover crash late Wednesday afternoon on Daniels Street at Milo Candini Drive.

The incident began after 4 p.m. when Manteca police officers were dispatched to Great Wolf Lodge for a hit-and-run involving a parked vehicle.

The suspect reportedly fled the scene in a purple Dodge Charger.

A minute later, Manteca police received reports of a rollover accident at Daniels Street and Milo Candini Drive involving the same purple Dodge Charger.

The rollover occurred after the vehicle struck three trees, a water main and a light pole while traveling eastbound at a high rate of speed in the westbound lanes of Daniels Street.

When officers arrived, the driver was trapped in the vehicle.

The driver, who was the only occupant in the car, was freed by Manteca Fire Department personnel.

The driver was transported to San Joaquin General Hospital for his injuries.

Officers had probable cause to believe the driver was drunk driving, and an officer contacted the hospital to seek comment and possible consent for the blood draw.

At the same time, another officer was working on a drunk driving search warrant.

The driver did not consent and a search warrant was later served.
