I ask myself, “Where are the wild things?” Adults and teens who love the stories and art of Maurice Sendak will find them during the Christmas season Wild Things: The Art of Maurice Sendak at the Denver Art Museum through February 17. More about the creator of “In the Night Kitchen,” “Outside Over There” and “Nutshell Library” and the artist who has worked on films and theater productions starting at 10 a.m. Sunday at the museum in the Hamilton Building, 100 W. 14th Ave . A highlight are the original paintings from “Where the Wild Things Are,” including those from the book and the opera. Great American beer festivalKnown nationally simply as GABF, it takes over the Colorado Convention Center downtown with top breweries, competitions and tastings of the latest beers… and lots of happy ruckus. Food that goes well with beer too. For the 24th time, Longmont is honoring the Day of the Dead Día de Muertos with Colorado’s oldest traditional celebration honoring deceased loved ones. Saturday, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., a street festival in downtown Longmont featuring the Firehouse Art Center’s Gigantes procession, music, dancing, cultural activities, food and ofrendas (art altars). A Día de Muertos exhibit is on display at the Longmont Museum. Next up is the Firehouse Art Center’s Catrina Ball with dance performances on October 19th. Noche de Museo on November 2nd features performances on dance history dating back to Aztec times. Tickets at longmontmuseum.org.

Cyclists can “Pedal Pikes Peak” Saturday and Sunday, 7-9 a.m. when there is no vehicle traffic. Wear reflective clothing. The summit opens at 8:30 a.m. with food, yes donuts, gifts and restrooms. To accommodate cyclists, Pikes Peak is partnering with North Pole Santa’s Workshop to provide overflow parking in the northwest parking lot in the event that parking near the gate reaches capacity. Park attendants will be on site from 6 a.m. to assist participants.
