Tragic death of Naktala student Harsh Choudhury ordered suicide | Kolkata News

Calcutta: The 19 year old Media management Student, Tough Choudhury – also a part-time model – who was found dead outside a popular gym on Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose Road in Naktala on October 3, had died suicidepolice said Wednesday.
Choudhury fell from a height and then succumbed to his injuries, police said on Friday. However, they said they were unable to determine the reason why the student made such a decision. Police said preliminary forensic and post-mortem reports also suggested suicide.
“No complaint of misconduct has been received from the family. Even the reason why he made such a decision is unclear. Family and friends could not say anything concrete,” said a senior police official.
Messages had previously been sent in which he asked at least four of his sports colleagues to immediately join the investigation, the police said. Investigators are likely to speak in detail again with the victim’s mother, Anjana Choudhury, as she was the first to notice her son lying unconscious near the gymnasium gate. “If he had entered the gym, someone would have and should have seen him,” a police officer said.
“We recovered the slippers he was wearing the last time he left home from inside the gym. “We have reason to believe that he climbed onto the terrace and then jumped,” an official said.
Police said the way CCTV cameras were discovered to be inoperable influenced the investigation. “The security camera in the gym building is not working. Likewise, the surveillance camera of a shop opposite this building, which could have provided clues, is not working. In such circumstances, we collect statements and verify them,” said an investigating officer.
