KC Chiefs’ Patrick Mahomes sent the Royals crowd into a frenzy – and trolled a former teammate

The Kauffman Stadium crowd had little to cheer about midway through Game 3 of the American League Division Series on Wednesday night as the Yankees took a 2-0 lead.

Then Patrick Mahomes showed up.

Of course not in the game. While Mahomes is a minority owner of the Royals, he makes a living playing for the Chiefs. But while the Chiefs had their bye week, Mahomes sat in a suite at Kauffman Stadium.

The Royals trailed 2-0 and were poised to bat in the bottom of the fifth inning when Mahomes appeared on the Crown Vision board. He urged fans to get loud.

Mahomes was joined in the suite by his wife Brittany, co-owner of the Kansas City Current, and his brother Jackson.

Former Chiefs wide receiver Gehrig Dieter was also there. Here’s what you should know about Dieter: He is a fan of teams that many in the country dislike, particularly Alabama Football and the Yankees.

Mahomes’ performances on the big screen got the crowd pumped up and, coincidentally or not, the Royals scored two runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to tie the game. That got Mahomes fired up and he let Dieter know it.
