Penn State vs. USC Prediction: Odds, Expert Picks, QB Matchup, Betting Trends and Stats

The No. 4 ranked Penn State Nittany Lions are on the road to face the USC Trojans in a West Coast Big Ten battle.

Penn State (5-0, 2-0 in the Big Ten) is undefeated this season with four wins by at least two touchdowns. This is the narrowest margin for the Nittany Lions all season (-4.5) and is their first road game since Week 1 at West Virginia (34-12).

USC (3-2, 1-2 in Big Ten) has lost two of its last three games, including Michigan (27-24) and Minnesota (24-17). The Trojans’ only Big Ten win came against Wisconsin (38-21). Aside from Notre Dame as the regular season finale, this will likely be USC’s toughest test.

NBC Sports Bet Best Bet

Vaughn Dalzell (@VmoneySports) has the following best bets for Saturday’s Penn State-USC matchup:
“USC is one of the most well-traveled teams in the country with a neutral field game against LSU, then a bye week and a home game against Utah State, followed by a tough stretch to Michigan (27-24 loss) and a return to LA against Wisconsin ( 38:21 comeback win) and a road trip to Minnesota (24:17 loss).

Now USC is back home and hosting Penn State, which hasn’t been on the road since Week 1 when it took a quick trip to West Virginia (34-12). USC has been sluggish in the last two first halves, but Penn State wasn’t much better last week when it hosted UCLA.

The Trojans’ chance comes from a fast start for a Penn State team that has yet to play in another time zone. I would target USC at +0.5 points in the first quarter or host Penn State at +1.5.”
