Former Chase County Schools teacher sentenced to prison for sex crimes

IMPERIAL, Neb. (KNOP) – A former Chase County Schools teacher has been sentenced to 10 to 20 years in prison for sex crimes against children.

Jerimiah Vlasin, 41, was sentenced Tuesday in Chase County District Court to 8 to 17 years in prison for possession of the visual depiction of sexually explicit content.

He was sentenced to an additional two to three years in prison for child abuse and sexual abuse by a school employee.

Vlasin, who taught agriculture and served as an adviser to Future Farmers of America, was arrested last year for crimes dating to 2014. Court documents revealed his victims were two college students, ages 17 and 18 at the time of the crimes.

In addition to his prison sentence, Vlasin was ordered to register as a sex offender for 25 years.

He was placed on administrative leave in August 2023.

The Imperial Police Department led the investigation with assistance from the Nebraska State Patrol and the Nebraska Attorney General’s Office.
