Ronny Dean Garrett Brings “Outlaw Gospel” to Town | Entertainment

The “son of day laborers,” Garrett said, he grew up in farming communities “all over Texas.”

“Life has given him a powerful story of overcoming adversity that will encourage listeners,” said a spokesman for CGS Records in Nashville. “With musical influences ranging from Johnny Cash to Anthems to BB King, Garrett’s sound is unique.”

As an “outlaw gospel” artist, Garrett said his goal is to share where he’s been and how he got to the other side with pure hope.

Outlaw Gospel music does not conform to any particular musical sound, formula, approach or any other music business norm, said the CGS Records spokesman.

“We simply remain true to our convictions in such matters,” the spokesman said.
