BAKERSFIELD, CA – A woman with no flying experience recently had to land a plane after her husband, the pilot, suffered a heart attack during the flight, according to reports.

According to Inside Edition, Yvonne Kinane-Wells was able to land the plane safely and reported that her husband had suffered a heart attack. He later died, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal, which identified the man as real estate agent Eliot Alper and noted that the couple had married in February.

According to the Federal Aviation Administration, the couple were leaving Henderson Executive Airport in Las Vegas on Friday and were flying a twin-engine Beechcraft King Air 90 to Monterey Regional Airport when the pilot became ill. The plane landed at Meadows Field Airport in Bakersfield around 1:40 p.m., the agency said.
