Tragic death of 3-year-old sparks outcry over school safety |

Kanpur: A three-year-old boy died after accidental consumption Toilet cleaning Liquid at an Anganwadi center on the premises of Bhitargaon Primary School in Kanpur.
Vidyawati, a helper, brought the child home after other children told him about the incident. Soon after, Nikhil started vomiting, prompting his family to rush him to the nearby Community Health Center (CHC) in Jahanabad.
The incident, which took place on Tuesday, came to light on Wednesday after the child’s parents lodged a complaint and later blocked the Ramipur-Jehanabad road. The police calmed the situation by assuring action.
Due to his deteriorating condition, he was referred to the district hospital in Fatehpur but died on the way in his father’s arms.
The police then registered an FIR and initiated an investigation. Nikhil’s father, a resident of Aseniya village near Bhitargaon block, Ram Babu Pal, has lodged a complaint against the school and anganwadi staff, alleging that their negligence led to his son’s untimely death.
The news of Nikhil’s death has devastated his mother Rani Devi and brother Saurabh. The police led by police constable Kushalpal Singh have sent the body for post-mortem.
“The child’s father has filed a complaint alleging that the negligence of the primary school and anganwadi staff led to his son’s death. A case has been registered. Action will be taken after investigating the matter,” Singh said.
The incident has raised serious concerns about security measures and supervision at Anganwadi centers and primary schools. The agitated protesters said authorities must take swift action to thoroughly investigate the matter and ensure such tragic incidents do not occur in the future. “The loss of a young life due to alleged negligence on the part of those entrusted with their care is of grave concern and requires immediate attention from the authorities,” they added.
