Moore Public Schools reports a student has been arrested in connection with a terrorist attack on Election Day

Moore Public Schools (MPS) released a statement to families saying a Southmoore virtual student was arrested in connection with a terrorist attack on Election Day.

MPS said the Justice Department has charged the student as a co-conspirator “…for conspiring to carry out an Election Day terrorist attack in the United States…”

Multiple state, local and federal law enforcement agencies are involved in the investigation.

The district said, “We are grateful for our effective agency partnerships and for the quick and efficient actions our law enforcement agencies are taking to ensure the safety of our schools, our community and our state.”

MPS said it is cooperating with the investigation and encourages the community and students to remain vigilant about the safety and security of the district.

The Moore Police Department released a statement Wednesday morning saying it was cooperating with the local FBI office and the Oklahoma City Police Department in the investigation.

“We are also grateful for the cooperation and partnership of Moore Public Schools in this investigation,” the Moore Police Department said. “The district worked with law enforcement to ensure the safety of all of our students.”
