Man arrested for causing accident during Rekla race near Coimbatore

Police have arrested a man responsible for an accident during an unauthorized Rekla race near Sulur in Coimbatore on October 4.

According to police, the accused S. Jayakumar (32) of Netaji Nagar on Nanjundapuram Road near Ramanathapuram along with four others organized a Rekla race at Kallapalayam on Chettipalayam-Palladam road around 11pm on October 4.

The race took place while other vehicles were using the road, and one of the cars collided head-on with a truck, injuring two bulls. The incident was caught on camera and shared widely on social media, attracting the attention of authorities.

Sulur police reported Jayakumar for the cause of the accident and arrested him. He was taken into custody.
