Argument led to stabbing in Atlantic City: police

ATLANTIC CITY, NJ – A 19-year-old man stabbed a person after a verbal altercation in Atlantic City, police said.

Police responded to the stabbing in the 2500 block of Atlantic Avenue on Oct. 6 at 8:30 p.m.

A 44-year-old Atlantic City resident was found with a stab wound, police said. Officers received a description of the suspect and soon found 19-year-old Jerry Martinez a few blocks away, police said.

Martinez, also of Atlantic City, was identified as the attacker and arrested, police said.

Police said Martinez and the victim had a verbal argument before the stabbing.

Martinez was charged with aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose. He was taken to the Atlantic County Justice Facility.
