A vehicle accident on Friars Road in Mission Valley leaves the driver trapped in debris

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) – A two-vehicle crash on Friars Road in Mission Valley Tuesday night prompted an emergency response to rescue one of the drivers.

According to San Diego police, the collision between a pickup truck and a small white car occurred just before 11 p.m. on westbound Friars Road near Mission Center Road

Multiple witnesses told ABC 10News Breaking News Tracker that the impact of the collision caused the white car to crash into a traffic light, leaving the driver trapped inside.

After the driver was rescued from the wreckage by emergency responders, he was taken to hospital with what he said was neck pain.

ABC 10News learned the driver of the truck was later arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence.

The crash is under investigation.
