BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) – This is Fire Prevention Week, a good time to reiterate a sobering statistic: Three out of five Fire deaths occur in homes with no or no smoke detectors Work Smoke detector.

Many house fires today are burning faster, hotter and deadlier than ever before. That’s because many newer homes have open floor plans with fewer walls and doors, allowing fire to spread faster and more freely. Another factor is that many homes have furniture made from synthetic materials such as plastic or chipboard, which burn much faster than, for example, solid wood. It is therefore more important than ever to warn of a fire early and then flee.
