Jury dismissed in triple stabbing trial

The jury has been dismissed in the trial of a 14-year-old girl who stabbed two teachers and a student.

Teachers Fiona Elias and Liz Hopkin and a student at Ysgol Dyffryn Aman in Ammanford, Carmarthenshire, were taken to hospital following the incident on April 24.

The girl, who cannot be named due to her age, admitted the triple knife attack but denied attempted murder.

The jury at Swansea Crown Court was sent to deliberate on Tuesday but was dismissed by Judge Paul Thomas KC on Wednesday morning. The retrial is scheduled to begin on January 27th.

The judge said it was “profound and very unsatisfactory to dismiss the jury, particularly for the 14-year-old who will have to stand trial again.”
