Local Restaurant Patrons Injured in Vehicle Accident – ​​WRBI Radio

(Greensburg, IN) – Seven people were injured, including two critically, when a car crashed into the Carriage on the Square Smokehouse restaurant in Greensburg Square Tuesday evening.

According to Greensburg police, a car driven by 83-year-old former Rep. Cleo Duncan entered the building at 117 North Broadway Street while the restaurant was occupied.

First responders arrived around 6:23 p.m. and found two people trapped under the car.

A Greensburg police officer assisted one of the victims by applying a tourniquet.

All victims were extricated by the Greensburg Fire Department and transported to medical facilities for treatment.

A total of seven patients were examined by the emergency services. Two were taken to Decatur County Memorial Hospital before being flown to UC Medical Center in Cincinnati in critical condition. Two others were in stable condition and were being evaluated at DCMH, while the other three refused treatment.

The Indiana State Police Accident Reconstruction Team was called in to assist in the investigation.

In addition to the Greensburg Fire Department and ISP, the Greensburg Police Department received assistance from Decatur County Communications; the Decatur County Sheriff’s Office; Decatur County Emergency Medical Services; the Letts Community Volunteer Fire Department; Decatur County EMA; the Decatur County Health Department and Platinum Wrecker Service.

GPD also thanks the civilians who assisted first responders.
