The interview began with a spirited remark about Trump’s absence 60 minuteswith Colbert stating, “We invited Kamala Harris to be our guest tonight… In the interests of fairness, we also invited Donald Trump to appear himself.”

Colbert then asked Harris if she would join him to open a Miller High Life, saying, “Elections are won by sentiment. They just want someone to have a beer with – so would you like to have a beer with me so I can tell people what it’s like?”

Harris replied, “The last time I had a beer was at a baseball game with Doug [Emhoff]before quipping: “The champagne of beers!”

The Democratic candidate, who has repeatedly tried to reach younger voters in the media, didn’t hold back during her appearance on the show, particularly when it came to addressing Donald Trump’s relationship with leaders like Vladimir Putin.

“Donald Trump – he openly admires dictators and authoritarians,” Harris noted. “He said he wanted to be a dictator on day one if he were elected president again. He’s played by these guys. He admires so-called strong men and is taken advantage of because they flatter him or show him favor.”

Harris also addressed new revelations from Bob Woodward’s book, which reported that Trump sent Covid tests to Russia in the early days of the pandemic.

“The Commander in Chief of the United States of America must stand strong and defend the principles we hold dear. We should stand with our allies,” she said. “We should strengthen the alliances we have, such as NATO, the strongest military alliance the world has ever seen. We must stand with our friend Ukraine, where Russia is trying to change borders by force.”

“I ask everyone here and everyone watching: Do you remember what those days were like? “Do you remember how many people didn’t have tests and tried to get them?” Harris said.

“And this man gives Vladimir Putin Covid test kits? Think about what that means in addition to him sending love letters to Kim Jong Un… He thinks that’s his boyfriend. What about the American people? They should be your first friend.”

In the episode, Colbert also highlighted the recent wave of misinformation surrounding Hurricane Milton, a catastrophic storm threatening the west coast of Florida, and the use of AI-generated images for political manipulation.

“An AI-generated image doing the rounds shows Trump wading into the floodwaters with first responders – that’s completely fake, but people are falling for it,” Colbert said, criticizing how such tactics are being used to to influence voters.

Meanwhile, Harris urged those concerned to listen to local officials while criticizing politicians who “lie” for their own benefit.

“It’s gross,” she said. “Don’t you have any compassion, man, for other people’s suffering? Is there no point in pretending to be a leader?”

When Harris was asked later in the interview about Trump’s 2020 election loss, she repeated sentiments she had heard at her rallies. “You lost manufacturing, you lost automobile factories, you lost the election. What does that make you? A loser. Someone said that at my rallies. I thought it was funny.”

“It’s accurate. It’s correct,” Colbert said. Harris added: “This is what happens when I drink beer.”

In a quieter moment during the discussion, the conversation shifted to music when Colbert asked Harris about her favorite Bob Seger songs to appeal to voters in Michigan. Harris replied, “I’ll go see Aretha or Eminem.”

Earlier in the day, Harris also appeared on ABC The viewwhere she introduced a plan to expand Medicare to include home care for the elderly. This media tour included stops at Howard Stern SiriusXM show and the Call her dad Podcast in which she discussed the pressing issue of reproductive rights.
