Hall County Election is promoting the Election Day “Clear Marks” campaign

HALL COUNTY, Neb. (KSNB) – With the 2024 election less than a month away, Hall County election officials are encouraging voters to clearly mark their ballots to ensure their votes are counted.

More than 2,500 ballots were mailed to Hall County voters this week in preparation for the 2024 general election. The focus this year is on putting “clear signals” on the ballot, as officials expect voter turnout to be about 70% – nearly double that of previous primaries.

Hall County Election Commissioner Tracey Overstreet stressed the importance of properly labeling ballots to avoid confusion during the counting process.

“Coloring the oval, not making an ‘X’, not making a checkmark, not curling, but actually coloring the oval so that it can be easily counted and the voter’s intent can be determined very easily, so clear markers for the 2024 presidential election” said Overstreet.

She also reminded voters that they don’t have to vote for every race and should only vote on what they think is important to them.

Overstreet said, “A lot of people are taking their ballots because we have a longer ballot, there are five initiatives and a referendum, so a lot of people are taking their ballots.”

The Hall County Elections Office emphasized that clear markers are essential to having their votes counted, regardless of when voters cast their ballots. Ballots must be returned by 8:00 p.m. on Election Day, November 5th.
