Sierra County police are searching for suspected assault suspects

SIERRA COUNTY, Calif. (KOLO) – The Sierra County Sheriff’s Office is searching for suspects in connection with an assault and battery investigation.

On September 4th at approximately 5:00 p.m., SCSO officers received a call about a fight at the Carlton Campground in the western part of the county. They say three young men approached campers there and a verbal argument ensued that escalated into a physical altercation.

All three suspects were said to be riding dirt bikes and a white pickup truck. Witnesses say all three suspects appeared to be white males in their late teens to early 20s, and the following descriptions were given of them:

  • The suspect was described as being over 6 feet tall, had a tattoo on his neck and was last seen wearing blue and white swim trunks with stars. Police say his name could be Cayden.
  • The second suspect is described as being around 1.80 meters tall and dark-haired
  • Suspect three is said to have short blonde hair and is wearing a thin jacket with a floral emblem that he said is associated with a local bicycle group. Police believe his name may be Jack.

The truck they were associated with is described as a 1990s model Chevy or Ford pickup truck with carriage doors. According to police, the suspects removed the license plates before they could be caught. The trio said they were frequent visitors to the county and members of a local cycling group. One of the suspects also said they were from the Concord area.

The U.S. Forest Service also said its employees had been in contact with the suspects at the campground about two weeks before this incident regarding an alleged illegal campfire.
