Marbury man pleads guilty to possession, distribution of child pornography case – Southern Maryland News Net

Investigators with the Charles County Sheriff’s Office have charged a suspect in connection with the possession and distribution of child pornography.

In December 2023, the Charles County Sheriff’s Office received a cyber tip that was reported to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) via a social media platform.

The notice described a user offering child pornography files for sale and stated that the images were images of a woman. The suspect also identified the woman by her first and last name. An investigation found that the account’s user posted the sale of the images over 200 times between November 24 and November 27.

After a thorough review of files, CCSO investigators identified 27-year-old Demetrius Donya Brown of Marbury as the suspect.

Investigators executed a search warrant for Brown and his home, which resulted in the seizure of several electronic devices. Brown’s devices were downloaded by the CCSO Digital Forensics Unit, which found several child pornography video files. Evidence linking Brown to the social media site was also found on Brown’s electronic devices. Investigators learned that the child named in the files had not yet been identified by NCMEC. Investigators followed up on leads and identified the victim as a 16-year-old from another state. The child’s files were leaked in 2022 when she was 14 years old.

Brown entered a guilty plea on September 26, 2024.

He is currently in custody at the Charles County Detention Center awaiting sentencing.
