He caught eight passes for 79 yards and a touchdown. The football program’s Instagram page announced his death on Monday morning.

“On behalf of the entire FMU football family, we would like to extend our deepest condolences during this incredibly difficult time,” the account wrote on Instagram. “Marcus was more than just an athlete for us; He was a valued member of our team and community whose presence left an impact on everyone around him. His dedication, spirit and kindness will always be remembered, and even though he is no longer with us physically, he will forever remain in our hearts and memories. We will miss him very much on and off the field. Know that our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. If there is anything we can do to support you during this time, please do not hesitate to contact us.”
