Man leads police in pursuit of stolen vehicle before crashing into utility pole

TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) – A Toledo man was arrested Monday after police said he led them on a chase through Toledo in a stolen vehicle.

According to TPD, on October 7 at approximately 7:35 p.m., officers attempted to stop a vehicle that had been reported stolen on Airport Highway. Police then began pursuing the vehicle down a few streets before the driver, Demetrius Foster, lost control, causing the vehicle to crash into a utility pole and land in a front yard.

After the accident, Foster allegedly tried to run away on foot before police caught him and took him into custody.

According to court records, Foster faces the following charges:

  • Non-compliance
  • Improper handling of firearms in a motor vehicle
  • Receiving stolen property
  • Obstruction of official business
  • Resisting arrest

Foster appeared in court on Oct. 8, where a judge set his bail at $25,000 with no percent for the failure to comply charge. He is due back in court on October 16 for a preliminary hearing.
